The Egg Harbor Township baseball team beat host Eastern High School 6-5 on Saturday to win the four-team Emeritus Tournament in Voorhees. The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. EHT’s JJ Swentkoski singled in Monny Strickland with the tying run, and Nick Pera scored the winning run with two outs when Bryan Brubaker reached on an error.
EHT was the home team in the final due to a coin flip at the beginning of the tournament.
EHT beat Woodbury 9-1 in the first game in the one-day tournament.
Strickland, a right fielder, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. He was 4-for-8 over two games, with two RBIs. Pera went 4-for-7 on the day.
Swentkoski went 3-for-4 in the final with two RBIs. Brandon Riggs was the winning pitcher in relief.
Mike Lahoud went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Eagles against Woodbury, Misael Castillo was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Todd Henry was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jordan Wisser was the winning pitcher.
