Aug. 20, 2014 QUEENS, N.Y. - Rising sophomore catcher Troy Dixon has earned Co-Most Valuable Player honors in the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League following his summer of play with the San Francisco Seagulls. Dixon, who played in 46 games for the Seagulls, led the league with a .635 slugging percentage and finished second with a .404 batting average. The catcher ranked second in doubles (17) and tied for sixth in home runs (5), while also finishing third in RBI (45). The GSCBL All-Star selection ranked third in on-base percentage (.484) and posted 20 multi-hit games to go with 21 walks and 35 runs scored. As a freshman last season with the Red Storm, Dixon posted a .284 batting average to go with a .409 on-base percentage. The catcher appeared in 40 games, including 33 starts, and finished with five doubles, 16 RBI and 16 runs scored. Dixon also posted five multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games in his rookie year. St. John's concluded the 2014 season with a 35-20 overall record. The Red Storm finished second, one game out of first place, in the BIG EAST standings with a 13-5 conference mark and matched a program-record with a league-high eight All-BIG EAST selections.
